Thank you Eddie Ross!

If you’ve read my blog you know that I’m a big fan of Eddie Ross and a stalker fan of his blog and his before and after projects.

The first piece of antique furniture I bought was a secretary way back when I was about 20 years old.  It wasn’t super nice and wasn’t super fancy but at the time it was a super big deal for me.

I’ve had this photo tucked away in my file folder for almost 2 years of  a secretary that Eddie Ross made over.

(Eddie Ross)

I knew after seeing this I would eventually try this little makeover on my piece of furniture one of main reasons???  My husband has always hated my “antique.”

Obviously, I’m going to let this very old photo (way before my blogging days obviously) speak for itself.  It was dark and lets face it not particularly fancy.  What’s crazy is I’m all about picking up the paintbrush but it’s taken me years to finally paint this piece.

When we moved a year or so ago & I knew I wanted to keep this piece (Drew was hoping to ditch it) and put it to use in our bedroom.

Well I finally finished it a few weeks ago and this is how it turned out!

It was an easy project for the most part.  I took the entire piece apart and then primed and sprayed the piece.  I took the glass out and had it replaced with mirror.

I used the Glass Doctor to cut the mirror to size.

The knobs are from Anthropologie and go with the theme of the mirrored bench.

How do I know it looks way better?  My husband actually loves the piece now!!

Don’t be afraid to paint a piece of furniture and take a chance!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, our family had a great one and I can’t wait to do it again!!!

    Laurie,
Your antique secretary looks so chic in this new light! The fresh coat of paint and that mirrored set of hardware creates an entirely new piece of furniture.
Congratulations on the chic new look!

Fabulous transformation! I’ve been “stalking” secretary redos for awhile. The box of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint just came, and I can’t wait to get to my husband’s “home office”. Hoping ours will turn out half as well as your’s!!!
